Kentucky vs Florida Football 2013 Preview

This Saturday  the University of Kentucky Wildcats open SEC play against #20 Florida (2-0) and are hoping to get a huge monkey of the program’s back. The Cats haven’t defeated the Gators (Saturday’s opponent) in over 26 years. To put that in perspective Tim Tebow wasn’t even alive the last time the Cats defeated the Gators.

Coming of a bye week and a loss to in state rival Louisville  look for Kentucky to keep it close and shake loose of the monkey. First year head coach Mark Stoops, previously Florida State’s defensive coordinator has seen the Florida offense and is accustomed to Florida’s spread/read offense. Also at (1-2) the Cats have improved from week to week and the defense(the supposed weakness) played tough against number seven UofL and Heisman trophy Candidate Teddy Bridgewater.

Starting quarterback for Florida Jeff Driskel suffered a broken leg against Tennessee and is out for the season. Redshirt Tyler Murphy will make his first collegiate start Saturday against the Cats. The crowd could play a big role in the game since it’s his first start and its on the road. The Cats will look to pressure Murphy, a young talented mobile quarterback. Kentucky’s defensive ends need to have a big game and try to contain Murphy from getting around the edges and not extend plays outside the pocket.

The game kicks off at 7 pm. Est at Common Wealth Stadium and will be televised on EspnU. As of today Florida is a 13 point favorite.
