LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Bellarmine University tennis teams were both edged 4-5 by Lindsey Wilson on Saturday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
On the women’s side, the Knights (1-2) won all three doubles matches but managed only won singles win – freshman Maggie Walroth at No. 1. The Knights men (0-2) won two of their three doubles matches, but Lindsey Wilson captured four of the six singles contests.
Walroth collected a pair of victories to move to 16-4 overall this season. In addition to a singles win in which she rallied from dropping the first set, Walroth teamed with senior Caitlin Hanley for a No. 2 doubles triumph in which the pair won in a tiebreaker.
Sophomores Nadia Sabie and Mary Elaine Kuo captured a No. 1 doubles victory, while junior Sydney Landers and sophomore Marissa Kovach did the same at No. 3.
Junior Zachary Kuo led the Bellarmine men with a pair of wins. He teamed with junior Jose Legarreta for a triumph at No. 1 doubles before notching another at No. 2 singles after regrouping from a first-set loss.
Sophomore Matthew Momper and freshman Lauren de Boeck gave the Knights the advantage in doubles play with a win at No. 3.
Senior Nathan Walroth rounded out the Bellarmine wins at No. 4 singles.
Both Bellarmine squads will host IU Southeast on Friday.
