UK track & field alum Kendra Harrison Claims USATF 60H Silver Medal

Kendra Harrison claimed her second American Silver Medal on Saturday at the 2016 USA Track and Field Indoor Championships inside the Portland Convention Center.
She’s two for two when it comes to earning medals at National Championships since wrapping up her historic collegiate career last June.
On Saturday, 2013 100-meter hurdles World Champion Brianna Rollins (her former training partner) edged her by .01 seconds: 7.76-7.77 to claim the USATF Gold in the 60-meter hurdles.
Those two times are the clear world-leaders this season and personal bests for both. Rollins is now the third fastest American all-time and Harrison the fourth-fastest.
Harrison claimed USA Silver at last Summer’s USA Outdoor Championships in the 100m hurdles in similar fashion. Then, Olympic Gold Medalist Dawn Harper-Nelson edged Harrison by .01 seconds. Harrison ran 12.56 to Harper-Nelson’s 12.55.
While Harrison’s last two USATF hurdles finals were agonizingly close, the results were undeniably impressive considering Harrison has been a professional for barely nine months.
Harrison’s fellow UK Class of 2015er Dezerea Bryant placed sixth in the 60m dash final. Also a recent professional, Bryant has reached American finals in three events in the last nine months.
Dominique Booker reached the 60m semifinal, but no further.
USATF is expected to announce its team for next week’s IAAF World Indoor Championships in Portland in the next few days.
