The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently announced the 2016 NSCAA Regional Staff of the Year winners for NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III women’s soccer programs, with the Centre women’s soccer staff of head coach Jay Hoffman and assistant coach Jessica Chisley earning South Atlantic Regional Staff of the Year honors.
The Colonels recently wrapped up the 2016 campaign in which they captured their fifth straight Southern Athletic Association (SAA) championship and made their sixth consecutive NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament appearance. Centre finished with a 19-1-3 overall ledger on the season.
For his efforts this year, 13th-year head coach Jay Hoffman was named the SAA Coach of the Year, as he and Chisley led a squad which featured 11 All-SAA performers.
Each of the 24 staffs receiving NSCAA Regional Staff of the Year recognition will be honored at the College Coaches Awards Reception, presented by Surf Cup Sports, on January 12, 2017 at the JW Marriott Los Angeles in conjunction with the 2017 NSCAA Convention.
In addition, the eight NSCAA Regional Staff of the Year recipients in each NCAA Division will be placed on the ballot for NSCAA National Staff of the Year consideration within their respective NCAA Division. The ballot will also include the addition of coaching staffs from any schools which advance to the semifinals of their NCAA Championship.
Voting for NSCAA National Staff of the Year will begin on November 29 and end on December 6. The NSCAA will announce the Men’s and Women’s National Staff of the Year for all NCAA divisions on December 20.
Hoffman and Chisley, who completed her 12th season as an assistant coach, have helped Centre tally at least 16 wins in each of the last five seasons with five SAA Tournament titles, five NCAA Tournament appearances and four SAA Regular Season Championships.
The pair also led the Colonels to its first NCAA Final Four in 2015 following an Elite Eight appearance in 2014.
All told, Hoffman and Chisley have compiled a record of 180-54-18 as a staff over the past 12 years with 12 winning seasons in a row.
