After breaking her own school record, Eastern Kentucky University junior Elsa Moberly was chosen as the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Women’s Co-Golfer of the Week on Wednesday, the league announced from its Brentwood, Tennessee headquarters.
This marks the third time this season, and the ninth time in her career, that she has earned the award.
Moberly broke her own school record with a 7-under round of 65 and finished tied for second overall at the prestigious Golfweek Conference Challenge on Sept. 27.
Twelve of the 18 teams in this year’s field advanced to NCAA regional play last spring. As a team, EKU tied for 15th overall.
Just the week before, Moberly tied her own school record with a 67 at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Challenge hosted by Tennessee. Last Wednesday she shaved two shots off that mark for her new school record.
The Somerset, Kentucky native and former Miss Kentucky Golf opened play on with an even-par 72 and shot a second round 75. Her three-round total of 212 tied Emma Svensson of Central Arkansas and was three shots behind first place Haley Moore of Arizona.
Eastern Kentucky will return to action on Oct. 16 at the two day Bill Berg Invitational hosted by Western Carolina University at The Ridges Golf Club in Hayesville, North Carolina.
