Kentucky senior Darian Mack was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team for the second-consecutive season, the league announced on Wednesday. The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sports. The team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
Mack is involved in several different community service initiatives. She has served as a walk-a-child to school volunteer and worked extensively in the Ronald McDonald house. Mack has also spent many days at local elementary schools and the Williams Wells Community Center, talking to kids about the importance of eating healthy, helping kids make snacks and giving volleyball lessons.
She has also spent time bell ringing for the Salvation Army, and has made blankets for Kentucky Children’s Hospital patients. Furthermore, she is a mainstay as a counselor for the highly-popular Kentucky volleyball camps.
On the floor, Mack is averaging 1.88 kills per set. Mack had a season-high 13 kills in Kentucky’s historic win over No. 1 Florida. She’s hit 10 or more terminations four times this season.
After being named a top-four seed in the NCAA Tournament, Kentucky will be back in action against East Tennessee State on Friday at 7:30 p.m. inside Memorial Coliseum. Tickets can be found the first and second round of the NCAA Tournament here.
