Cody Bridges and Chris Johnson of the Kentucky Wesleyan College baseball team
have earned Great Midwest Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the South Division, as announced
by the league office on Monday.
Bridges finished a three-game series against the University of Indianapolis seven for 15 with three doubles
and two RBIs. He helped the Panthers to a 5-4 win in extra innings on Friday with a three for five
performance with a run scored.
He flashed the leather in addition to his play at the plate. In Sunday's opener against the Greyhounds the
Panthers led 4-3 in the top of the fourth inning. Bridges came running-in on a sinking line-drive to help
execute a 1-2- 3 inning and prohibit extra bases for UIndy. He finished the game two for five at the plate
with a double and two RBIs as well.
Johnson picked-up his first win of the season on Friday with five innings of relief, his second appearance of
the season. The hard throwing right-hander shut-down the Greyhound offense by allowing just one hit
while striking-out six. The one hit was the Hounds lone base-runner in the final five innings.
The Panthers will be back on the diamond for a three-game series starting on Sunday February 25 th against
Wayne State. The match-up will take place over Spring Break in Florida.
