WKU Lady Topper Golf is tied for ninth, but within eight shots of fourth heading into the second round of Georgia State’s John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate.

The Lady Toppers fired a 317 team total Sunday in the first round at the par-72, 6,043-yard Eagle’s Landing Country Club. Jacksonville leads the field at 299.

Senior Georgina Blackman paced WKU with a 5-over 77. She’s tied for 19th, but only four strokes separate her from third overall individually.

Senior Katie Story is tied for 26th following a 78, and sophomore Mary Joiner and freshman Megan Clarke are tied for 44th with an 81 each. Sophomore Bailey Tyree opened play with an 89, and sophomore Abigail Smee shot an 84 playing as an individual.

Winthrop’s Ashley Sloup is the individual leader following a 1-under 71.

The second round is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT Monday with tee times.
