The University of Louisville baseball program’s 2018 recruiting class, currently enrolled and participating in fall workouts, ranked No. 4 nationally by Baseball America on Wednesday.

The 2018 class ranking is the highest in school history and marked the ninth time in the last 11 years Louisville has earned a top 25 national recruiting ranking. The Cardinals were ranked second among six ACC programs in the Baseball America Top 25 classes – No. 3 Florida State, No. 4 Louisville, No. 9 Clemson, No. 10 Miami, No. 11 Virginia and No. 22 North Carolina.

The class includes six players ranked in the 2018 Baseball America 500 – righthanded pitcher Kerry Wright (115), lefthander Carter Lohman (199), infielder/pitcher Jared Poland (272), catcher Henry Davis (306), infielder Timmy Borden (340) and righty pitcher Jack Perkins (394). The 15-player recruiting class is comprised of 14 freshmen and one junior college transfer (righthanded pitcher Luke Smith).

The Cardinals will continue their preparations for the 2019 season during fall workouts with an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday at 2:15 p.m., ET and an exhibition game against Western Kentucky on Saturday at 1 p.m. Both scrimmages will be played at Jim Patterson Stadium and admission is free.
