The Northern Kentucky men’s golf team is set to play in its fifth tournament of the fall season in Cleveland State’s Tom Tontimonia Invitational. The 54-hole event will be contested Oct. 8-9.
A total of seven Norse will be making the trip up north to compete. The scoring quintet consists of Jacob Poore, Logan Gamm, Ty DeBonis, Avery Green and Alex Doss. Jacob Vrolijk and Brady Howell are set to tee it up as individuals for the Norse.
Keeping Low Rounds Rolling
In their most recent tournament, the NKU Fall Classic, the Norse recorded their best team score of the season with an even-par third round of 284. Northern Kentucky wasn’t far off in the second round of the same tournament shooting 286, which ultimately assisted in its second-place finish. The Norse also recently witnessed commendable play individually as Poore went under-par in two rounds with a 69 and 70 while Green shot a 69 of his own.
Lakewood Country Club in Westlake, Ohio, plays host to the Tom Tontimonia Invitational. An A.W. Tillinghast design, the par-71 course will play at just over 7,000-yards. A 9:15 shotgun start is scheduled for both Monday’s 36 holes and Tuesday’s final round.
Eleven teams are taking the course, including Dayton, Detroit Mercy, Evansville, Green Bay, Oakland, Purdue Fort Wayne, Robert Morris, Wright State and Youngstown State in addition to the host Vikings and the Norse. Kent State is also sending individuals to the event.
