Junior Tom Bevington fired a career-low 67 in the second round Monday at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic, leading WKU Hilltopper Golf heading into the final day.

Bevington is tied for 17th individually with a two-round tally of 140 (73-67) accumulated Monday at the par-72, 6,706-yard Berkeley Hills Country Club. The 140 is also a new 36-hole career best for the St. Albans, England, native.

Bevington’s second-round 67, which ties for the best score by a Hilltopper this season, included three birdies, one eagle and no bogeys. He’s tied for second in the field with 28 total pars.

The Hilltoppers have a 5-under team total of 571 (287-284), but are ninth in the stout 12-team field. Georgia Southern, where first-year WKU head coach Chan Metts was an assistant the last two seasons, leads the standings with a 29-under 547 mark.

WKU redshirt senior Billy Tom Sargent (70-71) and redshirt junior Linus Lo (73-68) are both one stroke behind Bevington and tied for 20th with 3-under 141 totals.

That second-round 68 tied the career low for 18 holes for Lo, who’s competing as an individual.

Senior Stuart Easton is tied for 29th at 143 (70-73), and sophomore Crimson Callahan is tied for 47th at 147 (74-73). Redshirt freshman Dawson McDaniel sits at 153 (77-76).

Tuesday’s final round is scheduled to begin at 7:05 a.m. CT with tee times.
