Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team placed 11th at the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

The Colonels shot rounds of 306, 304 and 298 for an overall score of 908. EKU edged in front of 12th place Marshall and Winthrop by two strokes, and finished only four shots behind top-10 finisher Troy.


Eastern triumphed over seven teams including Xavier (14th), Charleston Southern (16th), and Western Carolina (18th), among others.

The 18-team event hosted by the College of Charleston was contested on the par 72, 6,005-yard Turtle Point Course at the Kiawah Island Resort.

Charleston (856) finished first overall, six shots under par. Campbell (869) and Kansas (872) followed behind in second and third place respectively.

EKU senior Amanda Lindahl tied for 24th with six other players, one of which was from third place finisher Kansas.  She finished with a three-round total of 223. Hannabeth Owens (231) tied for 53rd. Elsa Moberly, Bailey Hubbard, and Mikayla Hauck tied for 62nd place with scores of 233.

The Colonels will conclude the fall portion of their 2018-19 schedule on Nov. 5-6 at the Idle Hour Collegiate Championship hosted by Mercer University.
