The Kentucky State University baseball team dropped a pair of games Sunday, and was swept in the four-game series, by Miles College in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.

GAME ONE: MILES 6, KENTUCKY STATE 5 (9 INNINGS)
The Golden Bears put together three straight two-out singles to knot the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, and then won the game in extra innings following a leadoff walk and a single in the ninth inning.

Every time Kentucky State scored, Miles retaliated in the bottom of the inning.

The Thorobreds took the lead with three runs in the first, and Miles tied the game with three in the bottom half of the inning. Both teams scored single runs in the third and sixth innings.

Senior Jay Poullard (Louisville, KY) was responsible for two of KSU’s five hits, while sophomore Adren Thompson (Lexington, KY) had both Kentucky State RBI.

Senior Jordan Ransom, 0-2, (Ringgold, GA) was saddled with the loss in relief, allowing one run on one hit in 1 1/3 innings. Junior Brady Bibbs (Hornersville, MO) went seven innings, yielding five runs (three earned) on eight hits.

GAME TWO: MILES 9, KENTUCKY STATE 1
Miles scored five runs in the first inning and two more in the second en route to the 9-1 victory to complete the series sweep.

Junior Brandon Mason (Chattanooga, TN) drove in the lone run with an RBI double in the sixth inning, scoring senior Bryan Wilson(Chattanooga, TN).

Kentucky State scattered nine hits over the seven innings with Thompson, Wilson and Mason all having two hits and a double.

Freshman Solomon Reed, 2-2, (Cincinnati, OH) seven runs on eight hits in four innings of action.

Kentucky State (16-11-1 overall, 6-6 SIAC) looks to snap a five-game losing streak when the Thorobreds travel to Miami University-Hamilton for a non-conference nine-inning game 3 p.m. Tuesday.
