Eastern Kentucky University’s (EKU) baseball team is set to host Lipscomb University, the first-place team in the ASUN Conference, for a three-game series on Heroes Weekend. Military personnel and first responders can receive two free tickets and discounted tickets for family and friends for any game during the weekend. Friday’s series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m., followed by game two on Saturday at 6 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Fans can enjoy Baseball Bingo on Friday, with the first three winners receiving EKU baseball mini bats. Saturday will be Military Appreciation Day, while Sunday will be dedicated to First Responders Day, Little League Day, and Kids Day. All children aged 12 and under will receive free admission and can participate in the post-game autograph session and run the bases.

The Colonels have a current record of 19-22 overall and 9-9 in ASUN Conference games. They have shown promise by winning 8 of their last 12 league games, including a three-game sweep at North Alabama last weekend. Key players include Will King, who is hitting .373 with four home runs, 15 RBIs, and 19 runs scored over the last 16 games, and Miguel Larreal, who is eighth in the ASUN with a .357 batting average. EKU’s strong defense has turned 42 double plays this season, making them second-most in the nation.

Lipscomb University, with an overall record of 21-20 and tied for first place in the ASUN with a 13-5 league mark, has been performing consistently well in their conference games. They have shown their strength by winning two out of three games in five of their six conference series and sweeping North Alabama. Designated hitter/catcher Austin Kelly leads Lipscomb in batting average (.326) and home runs (15), while third baseman Trace Willhoite has 12 home runs and a team-best 45 RBIs.

Lipscomb leads the all-time series against EKU 8-3, winning five of six games against the Colonels last season. The last meeting between the two teams on May 15, 2022, in Richmond, ended in a 7-4 victory for Lipscomb.

As EKU prepares to host Lipscomb University for the upcoming series, fans can look forward to an exciting weekend of baseball, themed activities, and special honors for heroes in the community.
