Kentucky junior athlete Lynn Bowden Jr. has been selected to the Paul Hornung Award Honor Roll for his impressive play vs. Eastern Michigan. The Hornung Award recognizes the most versatile player in college football.

Bowden, from Youngstown, Ohio, caught seven passes for 54 yards and one touchdown in UK’s 38-17 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.  He became the first UK player with at least six receptions in each of the first two games since Randall Cobb in 2009. He now has 1,086 career receiving yards which ranks 27th on the UK career receiving yardage list.

He also threw a 32-yard completion to Terry Wilson that set up Kavosiey Smoke’s first-quarter touchdown run.  Bowden has completed 4-of-6 passes for 124 yards during his career.

The 2019 Hornung Award is annually awarded to the most versatile player in college football. The winner will be announced on March 4, 2020 at the award’s annual dinner, to be held at the Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky. Nicknamed The Golden Boy, Hornung was a Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback at Notre Dame in 1956 and the NFL’s Most Valuable Player with the Green Bay Packers whose versatility earned him enshrinement in both the College and Pro Football Hall of Fames.

Kentucky is 2-0 heading into this weekend’s highly-anticipated matchup with the Florida Gators in Kroger Field. The sold-out game will air at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN, the only conference game in the prime time window.
