Eastern Kentucky University cornerback Cornelius Floyd was chosen as Madness Ohio Valley Defensive Player of the Week by College Sports Madness on Sunday.
The Colonels (4-4, 3-2 OVC) beat Eastern Illinois 31-23 and will play at Austin Peay at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday.
On the first play of the game, Floyd put a stop to the OVC record streak for passing attempts without an interception. EIU quarterback Johnathan Brantley came into the game with a conference record 230 pass attempts without an interception.
In addition to his pick, Floyd totaled six tackles and two pass break-ups. The Colonels turned his interception into a field goal and an early 3-0 lead.
The redshirt senior from Miami, Florida leads the OVC and is seventh in the country with 0.5 interceptions per game this season. He has four picks in 2018. The Eastern Kentucky defense ranks fourth in the nation with 13 interceptions.
