Three days of the Louisville Cardinal Challenge and three days of a senior leading the way for the Kentucky men’s golf team. Sunday’s low-finisher was Fadhli Soetarso who fired a 1-under-par 70 to garner the best 54-hole score of his career to lead the way.

Soetarso and classmate Fred Allen Meyer tied for 27th on the individual leaderboard, while Kentucky finished the tournament in 10th as a team.

UK returns to action Sept. 24-25 at the Bearcat Invitational. The Cats broke numerous school records for low rounds, tournament scores and came home with a team victory a season ago at the event.

Soetarso matched his career-low round with a 70 on Sunday. He bookended his tournament with the 1-under score, also charting that score during Friday’s round. The Jakarta, Indonesia, native opened play at the par-four 10th and promptly picked up a stroke with a birdie. A bogey at the 12th was offset with his second red number of the round at the par-five 13th. Soetarso suffered a setback at the 15th, but again combated the mistake with a birdie this time coming at the par-five 17th. He played his version of the back nine flawlessly at even par for the final score of 70.

Meyer carded a round of 74 and 214 for the tournament. He matched Soetarso’s finish with a tie for 27th. He opened the week with UK’s low round and maintained his edge on the leaderboard as Kentucky’s low-finisher from start to finish.

Senior Max Mehles carded a round of 73 on Sunday and tied for 47th. He played his opening nine holes at 1-under par before finishing with a 2-over score.

Junior Matt Liston tied for 61st following a round of 76. Sophomore Jacob Cook carded a 74 on the final day of play and tied for 75th as an individual. Junior Allen Hamilton posted a round of 75 and finished in 81st.

Duke won the tournament by a 17-stroke difference ahead of second-place finisher and tournament host Louisville. Wake Forest was seven shots off the Cardinals’ pace for third. South Florida and Mississippi State rounded out the top five.
