Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team placed 16th on Tuesday at the 23rd Annual Mercedes-Benz Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Tennessee.

The field included No. 7 Kent State and No. 28 Tennessee, along with LSU, Maryland, Augusta and Charlotte.  The 16-team event was contested at the par 71, 5,900-yard Cherokee Country Club.

Kent State (830) won the event by five shots over Charlotte (835).  LSU (859) was third and Tennessee (863) fourth.

EKU shot rounds of 305, 306 and 310 for a 54-hole total of 921.  The Colonels were eight shots behind 15th place East Tennessee.

Sophomore Bailey Hubbard was Eastern’s top finisher and tied for 53rd overall.  She shot rounds of 76, 75 and 76 for a total of 227.

Eastern Kentucky will be back in action Sept. 27-29 at the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky at the University Club.
