Eastern Kentucky University’s men’s golf team placed 13th at the Intercollegiate at The Grove, hosted by Middle Tennessee State University.

The three day event was shortened to 36-holes after rain washed out Monday’s second round.

EKU turned in rounds of 303 and 306 for a total of 609.  The Colonels were 14 shots better than 14th place Charleston Southern (623) and just two shots behind 12th place South Dakota State (607).

Tennessee (569) captured the team championship by 16 strokes over Lamar (585).  Lipscomb (588) and Western Kentucky (588) tied for third.

Billy Basham led Eastern and tied for 33rd overall with a 36-hole total of 150 (+6).  He shot rounds of 74 and 76.  Tyler Lippert (151) tied for 37th.

The 14-team event was contested on the par-72, 7,368-yard course at The Grove Club.

Eastern Kentucky returns to the course on Oct. 21-22 at the Musketeer Classic hosted by Xavier at the Maketewah Country Club.
