The Kentucky men’s golf team concluded its fall schedule with a 14th-place showing at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate. Graduate student Jacob Cook was UK’s top individual at 2-over par and in a tie for 35th.

“This was a very disappointing way to finish the fall,” UK head coach Brian Craig said. “However, we will reset over the break and come back in the spring ready to compete. We have a few guys at home that I need to get in the lineup that can help this team. We may be behind the eight ball, but it is a long season and we will bounce back.”

Kentucky will have an individual appear in the Genesis Open Collegiate Showcase on Feb. 15, and the team will resume the 2020-21 season at the Hammock Creek Collegiate Feb. 21-23.

Cook closed the week with an even par round on Tuesday to cap the tournament at 2-over and in a tie for 35th. The Frankfort, Kentucky, native began the round on the back nine and shook off a slow start with birdies on the first and fourth holes after the turn. He played his final nine holes of the season at 2-under par. His 212 combined tournament score is a career low, bettering his personal best by four shots to end the fall slate on a positive note.

Junior Zach Norris began the week with a career-low round of 69 and concluded in a tie for 44th overall. He shot a 75 on Tuesday but finished his round with birdies on three of his final four holes.

Sophomore Alex Goff tied for 50th overall with rounds of 72-72-73 to finish at 7-over par for the week. He will close the fall averaging 69.78 strokes a round, a team best.

Sophomore Cooper Parks finished tied for 58th and senior Allen Hamilton placed 69th. They had rounds of 78 and 79, respectively during the final day of play.

Auburn, Georgia and Vanderbilt all tied for the team victory at 19-under par.
