Lauren Hartlage and Jacqueline Twitty each totaled a 2-over-par 218 on Sunday, tying for 17th, and the University of Louisville women’s golf team placed 11th at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Hartlage, who earned her fourth-consecutive top-20 finish, clubbed a 1-over-par 73 in the final round. She shot two birdies on the front nine, logging a 1-under-par, and capped the event with one of the best par-4 averages (3.97) in the 96-player field.

Twitty shot an even-par 72 and logged her second top-20 showing of the year. It was her third round this season even or below par, only trailing Hartlage’s five. The Chapin, S.C., native, Twitty tapped in for birdie five times and finished among the tournament leaders with 11.

Collectively, the Cardinals compiled a stronger third-round performance. Louisville had a 3-over-par 291 on the final day, the third-best score in a single round this year. After rising two spots on the leaderboard, Louisville finished the event ahead of No. 41 LSU and 43rd-ranked Michigan with a total of 24-over-par 888. Wake Forest won the team title with a 10-under-par 854.

Senior Shannon Gramley shot a 2-over-par 74 for the second-consecutive day, finishing with a three-round score of 9-over-par 225. She was the team’s leading scorer on par-5 holes (4.83).

Sophomore Olivia Cason rounded out the Cardinals’ scoring, tying for 68th with a 13-over-par 229.

Louisville returns to action in a week, when it plays host to the annual Cardinal Cup. The three-day event begins on Oct. 23 and is taking place at the UofL Golf Club in Simpsonville, Ky.
