In a number of accolades that keeps growing as the season continues, Murray State’s Ja Morant was honored as a Sporting News Second Team All-America when the three five-player teams were announced.
Morant, a sophomore and the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, led the Racers into the NCAA Tournament over the weekend with a pair of wins at the OVC Tournament in Evansville.
After taking OVC Tournament MVP honors when he averaged 32.5 points per game, Morant is still on track to become the first player since the assist stat became official in the 1985-86 season, to average 20 points per game and 10 assists per game. Morant is currently at 24.6 and 10.0.
The Racers (27-4) are waiting this week for Selection Sunday when the pairings for the NCAA Tournament will be announced. MSU Athletics is planning a Selection Sunday watch party at the CFSB Center. The selection program on CBS begins at 5 pm. CT. Details of the fun will be posted soon on GoRacers.com.
