After their 18 point first round win over a tough LSU team Kentucky faced Georgia in the semis. Starting red hot shooting 80% it looked as if the tweak was for real. Early foul trouble and a defensive adjustment slowed the Cats down but just for a little while. Aaron Harrison single handedly shot Georgia out of the zone and was on fire.
The Cats defeated Georgia 70-58 behind 22 points from Aaron Harrison and 12 points 9 assists from his brother Andrew. Not to mention Julius Randle chipping in his 6th straight double double.
The twins have finally showed up and it looks like the Cats are having fun on the hardwood. Andrew Harrison wasn’t shooting well so Harrison kept dishing out assists and grabbing rebounds, what a point guard’s job is, to run the team. Harrison had a career high in assists Friday night against LSU and kept that trend going against Georgia Saturday in Atlanta.
Kentucky faces #1 Florida Sunday at 3:15 pm in Atlanta for the SEC title and another chance to get a win against the Gators who defeated Kentucky in both regular season meetings. It’s said that it’s hard to beat a team twice much less three times but Kentucky faces a tough, talented, and experienced Florida team But are playing their best ball now.
No matter the outcome tomorrow the last two days have gave the Wildcats confidence for the upcoming NCAA dance. If Calipari did tweak something the Cats will continue the hot streak and will face it’s toughest test tomorrow in Atlanta.
Expect to see the Georgia dome filled with blue, both Cat and Gator Blue. If Kentucky can keep up it’s energy, keep their big men out of foul trouble, keep turnovers down, rebound, and stay hot behind the arc, and keep Wilbekin in check the Cats will cut the nets down tomorrow in Atlanta and give the nation and every team in the nation even the one 60 miles away something to worry about in the dance.
