Kentucky Defeats Louisville To Reach Elite 8

John Calipari and his young Cats are trend setters. The trend the Wildcats are setting is stoping trends  and rewriting history.

To make the Dream Game #2 the #8 seed young Cats defeated the Midwest #1 seed and undefeated (35-0) Wichita State Shockers. Something many thought couldn’t happen with the Shockers experience and Final Four run from last year.

Critics claimed the Cats were talented but the lack of experience would show in the battle. On paper most would believe that as Calipari starts 5 freshman compared to the experienced Shockers who retained most from the previous Final Four run from last year.

Next on the list was the Wildcats biggest rival, Louisville and former head coach Rick Pitino. After a dismal half shooting 33% and losing Willie Cauley Stein, one of the nation’s best rim protectors the Cats managed to make it the half down 3, 34-31. Again history was against the Cats as Louisville was a perfect 31-0 after leading at halftime.

With history staring them in the eyes and losing WCS the Wildcats didnt lay down, give up, or get rattled like earlier in the year. The team stayed poised and came out and played some of the best ball of the year But again another trend had the Cats not likely advancing.

The Armani dressed Pitino boasted a perfect 12-0 in Sweet 16 games. All of these factors and numbers against them Kentucky prevailed and broke every trend that the four letter and 3 letter networks could dig up.

Calipari is now 16-2 against Pitino as the Wildcats leader and again shown talented freshman (one and done) can not only compete but defeat experienced teams.

Kentucky a 5 point under dawg beat the Cardinals 74-69 lead by Julius Randle’ 23rd double double of the year and 3rd straight of the tournament that propelled the Cats to the Elite 8. A team that was counted out 3 weeks ago and now in the Elite 8 shows fans and media not to give up on talent, Calipari, and no matter what history says Records and Streaks are meant to be broken.

Up next the Wildcats face #2 seed Michigan for a Final Four bid. Michigan who won the Big Ten Conference outright but lost to Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament costing the Wolverines a #1 seed.

The dream run the Wildcats put together in 2 weeks  has been up to par to the preseason #1 ranking. There’s no better fan base to cheer on the Cats and Indy will be a sea of Blue. Keep making history Wildcats.
