One of the states top 8th graders this past season was Jared Wellman of Lawrence County. Wellman and his family have relocated to the central part of the state and Wellman is now enrolled at George Rogers Clark.
Clark County will enter the 2017-2018 season as the 10th region favorite as they return every player off of a 20 win team in 16-17. The chances for the Cardinals to return to Rupp for the first time since 2012 when they lost to Trinity in the quarterfinals.
As an 8th grader last season playing varsity, Wellman averaged 15.1 points per game for Lawrence County.
