Jeron Dunbar hired at Somerset

The high school coaching carousel in Kentucky has been relatively quiet so far in 2017 through mid-April. Twenty jobs are open in the state and today, Jeron Dunbar was hired as the new head coach of Somerset.

Somerset is probably the most intriguing job open to date alongside Doss and Marshall County. The Briar Jumpers have a great incoming class of freshman who won the middle school state tournament as 7th graders and finished runner-up this year as 8th graders. Dunbar inherits a team that went 10-18 this past season but loses only one senior. Eighth grader Kade Grundy, enters his high school career with already a 30 point game under his belt on the varsity level. Earlier this season he scored 30 in a 79-76 win over the eventual 12th region champions, Pulaski County.

Dunbar is a Russell County graduate and has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Madison Central.
