Two of the vacant head coaching jobs open in the state of Kentucky were filled yesterday. The Marshalls of Marshall County named Terry Birdsong their new head coach while the Russell County Lakers named Billy Carson as their new head coach.

Birdsong comes to Marshall County from Calloway County. Birdsong is a Marshall County graduate with 21 years of head coaching experience to his name. He has 430 career wins and has appeared in the state tournament four times as head coach of Calloway County and Graves County. Marshall County was 21-11 last season.

Billy Carson is beginning where Birdsong was in the 90’s, his first head coaching job. Carson has been assistant coach at North Laurel where they had 3,000 point scorer and Mr. Basketball finalist Peyton Broughton. Carson takes over the Lakers who were 7-25 last season.
