Kentucky State University women’s basketball announced its 28-game schedule for the 2017-18 season on Monday morning.

“We’ve put a lot of time into building our program over the offseason,” said second-year head coach Terrance Slater. “The players we’ve brought to our team, our non-conference schedule, and other elements have been designed to challenge us; I can’t wait to get the season started.”

Two of the 28-game schedule will feature exhibitions against NCAA Division I squads with games at Tennessee State University on Nov. 3 and Western Michigan University on Dec. 15.

The first official game of the season will take place on the road at the University of North Alabama on Nov. 10, followed by the University of Alabama in Huntsville the next day on Nov.11. Both contests will take place at UNA.

The first home game of the season will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 against the University of Missouri- St. Louis and will be followed up with another matchup against UNA on Monday, Nov. 20 inside the Exum Center.

The Thorobrettes will take a one-game road trip back to the state of Alabama where they will face off with UAH for the second time, but on the Chargers’ home court right before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, Nov. 22.

The month of November and the first few days of December will showcase the beginning of the SIAC schedule with four home contest against Fort Valley State University, Albany State University, LeMoyne-Owen College, and Lane College. The four-game homestead will begin on Nov. 25 and will end on Dec. 2.

KSU will head west to Louisville with a matchup against Bellarmine University on Saturday, Dec 9, to then continue west for a contest at McKendree University on Monday, Dec. 11.

The 2017 portion of the schedule will end with a highly-anticipated home game against the defending SIAC tournament champions, the Benedict Lady Tigers on Dec 30. Claflin University will ring in the new year with KSU at the Exum Center on Jan 1.

The toughest road stretch for the Thorobrettes in conference competition will take place on Jan. 20-29 with games at Spring Hill College, LC, and LOC. The final non-conference game of the season will be sandwich between SHC and LC on Jan 23 at Oakland City University.

A game fans of both universities highlight on their schedules every season between KSU, and Central State University will be back-to-back on the schedule. The Lady Marauders will host the Thorobrettes on Feb. 8, and KSU will return the favor on Saturday, Feb. 10 for their final home game of the year.

The regular season will conclude with a trip back to Alabama with games at Miles College and Tuskegee University on Feb. 17 and 19.
