In the fifth regular season NAIA Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, Campbellsville Lady Tiger basketball remained at No. 3 for the fifth straight poll.
The Lady Tigers boast a 23-3 record heading into the week and earned 205 voting points from the national raters. CU’s 23 wins is tied for the second-most with No. 1 Shawnee State. The Bears (23-3) moved to No. 1 for the first time in program history after gathering nine first-place votes and 219 points.
The biggest game of the season thus far is on Thursday night, as No. 3 Campbellsville travels to No. 1 Shawnee State in a MSC matchup. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Freed-Hardeman fell down to No. 2 with a 22-3 record and 212 points. Westmont jumped two positions to No. 4, while Wayland Baptist also propelled to No. 5.
Other teams in the Mid-South Conference – Lindsey Wilson fell one spot to No. 10 with 156 points, while Cumberland University is receiving votes at No. 32.
Top 25 Notes:
- There were three polls that joined the Top 25 this week: No. 16 Central Methodist, No. 22 Loyola and No. 24 Science & Arts.
- Oklahoma City holds the longest active streak in the Top 25 with 244 total appearances dating back to 1997-98 school year.
- Union and Vanguard are the only programs to have spent an entire season ranked No. 1 (Union: 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11) (Vanguard: 2005-06, 2006-07).
- Union leads all NAIA school with 53 No. 1 rankings. Oklahoma City is second with 50 and Vanguard is third with 44.
