The Kentucky swimming and diving team had a successful week, with three of its members being recognized for their outstanding performances. Kyndal Knight and Sam Duncan were named Diver of the Week, while Ryan Merani earned Co-Freshman of the Week honors.

During Kentucky’s dual meet victory against Cincinnati last Friday, Knight and Duncan both broke pool records at the Keating Aquatic Center. Knight won both of the day’s diving events with a score of 335.48 on the 1-mtr, breaking an 11-year pool record by 12 points. Duncan won both diving events as well, resetting the facility’s high score on the 3-mtr with a mark of 391.88, breaking the previous standard that had been in place for 14 years.

Merani, a freshman from Lutherville Timonium, Md., was also a standout performer. He won the 200 fly event with a personal best time of 1:47.47, and finished runner-up in the 500 freestyle. This was Merani’s first collegiate win, and he also scored a career high of 13 individual points in the dual meet.

For Knight, this was her third Diver of the Week selection this year, and her eighth all-time. Meanwhile, both Duncan and Merani received their first collegiate awards for their performances. The Kentucky swimming and diving team continues to impress, and these three athletes are sure to be ones to watch in the future.
