Murray State set three school records as they competed in the two-day Pitt State Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburgh State.
“The team performed very well this weekend, as we came away with three school records. We talk about competing on a daily basis, and it was evident over the past two days that it’s starting to sink in. I’m proud of the group and I’m excited to see what is in store in two weeks,” said head coach Adam Kiesler after the two-day meet.
High Jump (Invite)
Aubrey Main finished third in the high jump invite section with a jump of 1.67m.
Destiny Carey placed seventh and set a PR with a throw of 13.20m. That’s also the sixth highest throw in Racer history in the shot put.
800-meter run (Seeded)
Hilary McAdam placed 12th with a season-best time of 2:16.80 in the 800-meter seeded race.
60-meter hurdle finals
Jabreuna Brimlett came in first place with a time of 8.39 in the hurdles. She broke the school record yesterday for hurdles in the prelims with a time of 8.36.
60-meter dash finals
Tamdra Lawrence placed first with a time of 7.42 in the 60-meter dash, tying the school record set by Alexis Love in 2012.
Mile run final (Unseeded)
In the unseeded section, two racers placed in the top-15, with Rebekah Priddy coming in ninth with a season-best and PR time of 5:17.76 and Emily Flaherty coming in 12th with a time of 5:22.77
D’Myia Thornton placed 16th with a season-best time of 58.51, Summer Wheeler was the next up with a time of 1:02.51
Coming in third for the 400-meter seeded race, Norma Abdur-Rafia finished with a season-best time of 56.54.
The squad of Thornton, Wheeler, Dontavia Howard and Daijah White finished with a time of 4:01.89
Murray State will compete next at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship hosted by Eastern Illinois from Friday, February 23 to Saturday, February 24.
