The Northern Kentucky University baseball team split a doubleheader with Oakland on Sunday. The Norse won the first game 3-2, and Oakland defeated NKU in the second game, 4-0. NKU is 5-20 on the season and 4-5 in the Horizon League. Oakland is now 4-19 and 4-5 in the league.

Game One – NKU 3, Oakland 2


  • Noah Fisher batted 2-for-4 in the contest.
  • Griffin Doersching went 1-for-3 with a home run.
  • Will Haueter was 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
  • Sam Hedges went 1-for-1 with a run scored.


  • Kyle Service pitched six scoreless innings, allowing one hit and four walks. He also struck out three batters.
  • Kaleb Meeks allowed two runs over 1.2 innings. He struck out three hitters.
  • Joe Martin (W, 2-0) earned the win on the mound. He threw 1.1 innings, giving up just a hit while striking out two batters.


  • The Norse went ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth. After Andrew Bacon reached first base on a throwing error, Doersching stepped up to the plate and hit a home run to left center.
  • Oakland tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the eighth. Drew Demumbrum hit a two-run double in the frame.
  • NKU won the game in the bottom of the ninth. Haueter’s RBI double scored Sam Hedges to give the Norse a 3-2 victory.

Game Two – Oakland 4, NKU 0


  • Griffin Kain, Griffin Doersching, and Jake Murray each recorded a hit in the contest.


  • Kyle Arganbright (L, 0-3) got the start on the mound. He went 3.2 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks. He also struck out two hitters.
  • Noah Richardson pitched 3.1 innings, allowing a run on a hit and two walks while striking out three batters.
  • Cameron Ross went on the mound in the eighth inning. He threw two innings, giving up one run on two hits. 


  • Oakland took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Miles Zilinsky hit a double, and he scored on an RBI groundout by Mario Camilletti.
  • The Golden Grizzlies scored another run in the top of the fourth. With the bases loaded, Mike McGee walked to bring home Blake Griffith.
  • Oakland went ahead 3-0 in the fifth. Ronnie Krsolovic hit an RBI double to score Griffith.
  • The Golden Grizzlies added a run in the ninth to make the score 4-0. Matt Dileo singled to bring home Zilinsky.


  • NKU travels to Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. first pitch.
