The University of Louisville women swam in three finals on Day 3 at the 2021 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Friday night in the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
 
UofL moved to 13th after three days of racing. Virginia kept the lead with 344 points, ahead of NC State (241) and Texas (224) to round out the top three.
 
In the first event of the evening, Abby Hay turned in a 4:08.87 in the NCAA B-Finals in the 400 Individual Medley. In the A-Final, Stanford’s Brooke Forde used the freestyle leg to take the lead and then cruised her first 400 IM NCAA title with a Greensboro pool record of 4:01.57.
 
Cardinal Kaylee Wheeler touched second in the B-final of the NCAA Championship 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.67, dropping .37 from her prelim time. In the A-final, NC State’s Sophie Hansson pulled ahead of the field to win the 100 breast with an ACC conference record of 57.23. 
 
In the final event of the evening, Ashlyn Schoof (24.61), Kaylee Wheeler (27.08), Abby Hay (23.26) and Gabi Albiero (21.68) put together a 1:36.63 in the finals of the 200 Medley Relay in the final event of Day 3. NC State put up the third-fastest 200 medley relay in history with a time of 1:33.18 for the win.
 
Competition in the last day of racing begins Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the GAC. The teams will compete in the final seven events.
