Northern Kentucky’s men’s tennis will defend its undefeated season by taking on the Dayton Flyers on Wednesday, March 17, at 11 a.m., at the South Regency Tennis Center in Miamisburg, Ohio.  

The Norse are coming off of a 5-2 match win over Eastern Illinois, keeping the Norse undefeated at 4-0. Emilien Burnel and Trevor Ball won the No. 1 doubles match, 6-4, to give the Norse a strong start. Burnel then shut out his singles opponent, which earned him a Horizon League Player of the Week honor. Anderson McDowell then clinched the win, defeating his opponent 6-3, 6-4.    

The Flyers start off their season 7-5 after coming off of two shutout wins. They topped Eastern Illinois, 4-0, on March 5 and Xavier, 7-0, on March 12, picking up head coach Ryan Meyer’s 100th career win after defeating the Musketeers.  

The Flyers and Norse have had 11 overall matchups, with Dayton leading 7-4. Their last matchup was on Feb. 22, 2020 with the Flyers beating the Norse, 6-1. The last time NKU topped Dayton was on February 10, 2017.
