The No. 8 Kentucky gymnastics team is set to compete in the upcoming Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Championship’s evening session, announced on Monday. This is a huge moment for the Wildcats, as they’ve earned the third overall seed for the first time in program history and will make the evening session for the first time since 2019.

Kentucky’s season has been nothing short of historic, with the team wrapping up its most successful regular season yet with a score of 197.800 on the road at Illinois last Saturday. Not only was this the highest road score ever recorded in program history, but it was also the third-best overall score to date.

The Cats have shattered numerous records throughout the season, breaking program record meet scores multiple times. They started off strong with a score of 197.825 against Alabama, beating the overall program best. But they didn’t stop there, as they broke their own record at home against Arkansas with an impressive score of 197.875.

In addition to these record-breaking performances, Kentucky has also set new standards on each apparatus with new highs or current best ties. And let’s not forget the numerous individual records that have been set or broken along the way.

Seeding for the SEC Gymnastics Championships is based on final regular-season Team National Qualifying Scores (NQS), and Kentucky’s strong season has earned them the No. 3 seed.

On Saturday, March 18, the 2023 SEC Gymnastics Championship will take place at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, GA. Session I will feature seeds 5-8 at 3:30 p.m. ET, and Session II will feature seeds 1-4 at 8 p.m. ET. Fans can tune in to catch both sessions of the championships, airing live on SEC Network. It’s sure to be an exciting event for the Wildcats as they aim for even more history-making performances.
