Murray State head women’s basketball coach Rechelle Turner has announced the signing of Laci Hawthorne of New Mexico Junior College as the fourth member of her 2019-20 recruiting class.
Hawthorne helped lead the Thunderbirds on a magical run to the finals of the 2019 NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. Hawthorne played in all 35 games last season with six starts, averaging 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Her play earned her an honorable mention nod of the 2018-19 All-WJCAC team. Prior to her year at New Mexico, the Fort Worth native spent her first collegiate season at Incarnate Word.
Hawthorne now joins three others as members of Turner’s 2019-20 recruiting class. Jensen Worley of Neelyville High School (MO), Sarah Sutton of Allen County-Scottsville High School (KY) and Ashley Hunter of Moraine Valley Community College have already signed with the Murray State and will join the Racers for this coming season.
