Northern Kentucky University baseball student-athlete Will Haueter was named the Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Season for the spring, as announced by the league office today. Haueter shares the honor with Ben Kendall of Detroit Mercy. On the women’s side, Taylor Cairns of UIC earned the award.
Haueter hit at a .360 clip this season, which ranked first in the Horizon League. He also was second in the league in doubles (19), on-base percentage (.451) and slugging percentage (.600). Haueter now has 46 doubles in his career, which is fifth all-time in the NKU record book. He earned 2018 All-Horizon League First Team honors for his efforts.
In addition to his on-the-field accomplishments, Haueter was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America First Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He was also selected to the Horizon League All-Academic Team for the second year in a row. Haueter received the U.S. Bank/Haile School of Business Most Outstanding Student in Finance award and NKU’s prestigious Regents Award. He maintained a perfect 4.0 during his undergraduate career and recently graduated with a degree in Finance. Haueter returns to the Norse lineup in 2019 for his final collegiate season.
