The Eastern Kentucky University volleyball team fell to UNLV Saturday at Cox Arena.
The Colonels dropped the match by scores of 25-7, 25-10 and 25-16.
After EKU took the first point of the match, the Runnin’ Rebels scored 10 unanswered to create distance right away in the first set, 10-1. UNLV kept piling on, hitting .737 for the set and holding Eastern to just .062.
In the third set, the Colonels rattled off three in a row, starting on a block from Katelynn Caserma-Kloeble and Cassie Knutson to come within one, 8-7. UNLV responded with an 11-3 run to make it 19-10 and showed no quit, taking the third set, 25-16.
The Runnin’ Rebels hit .500 on the match and held EKU to just .029.
Six Colonels tallied kills throughout the match while Knutson, Sydney Schoen and Caserma-Kloeble each collected blocks.
Eastern Kentucky will return to the hardwood September 14 against Cincinnati and Xavier at 1 and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
