Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team finished second at the Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State University, on Monday.

EKU finished at +35 (899) over the two-day event.  The Colonels were 17 strokes behind first place Northern Illinois. Eastern shot rounds of 295 and 304 on Sunday and finished Monday’s final round with a team total of 300.

The Colonels were led by senior Elsa Moberly (219) who finished fourth at 3-over for the tournament. The Kentucky native shot rounds of 76, 72, and a one-under 71 on Monday.

Amanda Lindahl finished eighth at 8-over. She fired rounds of 72 and 74 to start the tournament at 2-over and in fifth place heading into the final round. That is when Lindahl shot a final round 78 for a total of 224. 

“I’m proud of the team for their second place finish and a solid start to the fall,” Head Coach Mandy Moore said. “We also had some strong individual finishes by Elsa and Amanda. We have a talented group and I’m excited to see what they can accomplish this year.”

EKU finished ahead of opponents such as Ball State (916), Northern Iowa (921), Ohio (926) and Butler (957).

Makayla Hauck played as an individual during the event and finished tied for 12th with rounds of 73, 76, and 77 for a total of 226.

Ragnhildur Kristindottir posted rounds of 80, 74, and 75 for a total of 229. She finished in 18th overall. Hannabeth Owens shot a 78, 75, and 77 for a total of 230 and tied for 19th.

Bailey Hubbard made her collegiate debut with rounds of 78, 79, and 77 for a total of 234. She finished 30th.

The Colonels return to the course next Monday and Tuesday at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.
