Thomas More VB Falls On The Road At No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan

The Thomas More University women’s volleyball team lost Friday night on the road at No. 11 Indiana Wesleyan University, 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-18).

Jess Gearries and Ally Albrinck tied for the team lead with seven kills in the match. Sam McClanahan dished out 11 assists, while Asia Ferrando recorded a match-high 19 digs. Sawyer Lorentz also had three solo blocks for the Saints, while Sydney Hilderbran had two.

Results
Thomas More held a 13-8 lead in the first set, with Gearries and Albrinck recording three kills a piece during this stretch. However, the Wildcats ended the set on a 17-3 run to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Indiana Wesleyan jumped out to a 7-3 lead in set two and never looked back. Thomas More worked back to within three on a few occasions, but the Wildcats ended the set on a 7-0 run to win 25-13 and take a 2-0 lead.

The final set was back and forth throughout, with Indiana Wesleyan holding a slight 17-16 advantage. Gearries and Hilderbran both had three kills up to this point in the set. The Wildcats ended the match on an 8-2 flurry to win the match 3-0.

What’s Up Next
Thomas More is now 5-5 overall this season and will be back in action tomorrow afternoon for a tri-match in Mount Vernon, Ohio. They take on No. 25 Mount Vernon Nazarene at noon before playing West Virginia Tech. in the afternoon match at 2:00 p.m.
