Eastern Kentucky University’s women’s golf team tied for sixth at the 29th annual Bettie Lou Evans Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky.

Eastern’s final round 288 tied for the fourth lowest round in program history.  The team’s total of 882 was the fifth lowest 54-hole total in program history.

The Colonels concluded the three day event with a final round on Sunday that included two 1-under 71s and two 1-over rounds of 73.

Three players finished among the top-25 in a field of 75.  Elsa Moberly (219) led the way and tied for 19th overall.  Amanda Lindahl (220) tied for 22nd and freshman Bailey Hubbard (221) tied for 25th.

Kentucky (858) captured the team title by two shots over Penn State (860).  Middle Tennessee (869) was third and Memphis (874) was fourth.  With a three-round total of 882, Eastern Kentucky finished just one shot behind fifth place Notre Dame (881) and tied with Toledo (882).

The Colonels finished higher than teams from Western Kentucky and East Tennessee, among others.

The 12 teams competed on the par 72, 5,947-yard Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky.

“We got off to a rough start the first day but I was very happy with how we played the second and third rounds,” EKU Head Coach Mandy Moore said.  “They fought back and played our second nine under par both days.  I’m impressed with how this group competes and fights until the last hole.  We had three top 25 individual finishes which was good to see.”

Moberly followed back-to-back rounds of 72 on Friday and Saturday with a final round 75 and finished 3-over for the tournament.  Lindahl rebounded from a first round 78 to card consecutive rounds of 1-under 71 to finish 4-over.  Hubbard was consistent throughout with two straight rounds of 74 and a 73.

Hannabeth Owens helped the team’s efforts with a final round 71 on Sunday.  She finished 38th with a total of 225.  Ragnhildur Kristinsdottir also finished strong, posting a final round 73.

EKU will participate in the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Oct. 21-23 at the Kiawah Island Resort in South Carolina.
