The Murray State women’s golf team came home with a 12th place showing at the Cardinal Cup at the University of Louisville Golf Club in Simpsonville, Kentucky.
The Racers carded scores of 315-320-306=941, ahead of UAB (956) and Ball State (975) and just behind Richmond (937) and Chattanooga (937).
MSU’s Linette Holmslykke was the Racers’ top finisher with a spot in 12th place on scores of 75-73-73=221, while Sarah McDowell placed 56th on rounds of 80-81-77=238. Lucila Puente Rodriguez de Austria had scores of 79-85-78=242 for a spot in 64th place, with Jane Watts finishing in 67th place on scores of 81-84-81=246. Raeysha Surendran had scores of 81-84-81=246 and was in 71st place.
Anna Moore played the event as an individual and placed 37th on scores of 74-83-75=232.
Illinois (863) was the winner, with Maryland (882) taking second and host Louisville placing third at 883.
The ULGC played to a length of 6,303 yards and to a par of 72.
The Racers wrap up a tremendously successful fall campaign in a field teams and a golf course that is similar to what they have faced the last two seasons at an NCAA Regional. MSU posted a pair of wins and a second and third place finish this fall.
MSU’s first spring event in 2019 is the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate (Feb. 24-26) at the Osprey Point and Oak Point course at the Kiawah Island Resort. At the end of six spring events, the Racers host the Jan Weaver Invitational (April 5-6) at Miller Memorial GC in Murray, Ky. MSU looks to win a third-straight Ohio Valley Conference championship (April 15-17) at The Shoals GC Schoolmaster Course in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
