The 11th-ranked University of Louisville soccer team returns home for four straight matches at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium, hosting Evansville on Tuesday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on ACC Network Extra.

ABOUT THE CARDINALS

Louisville struck for a pair of second half goals on its way to a 2-0 victory at Notre Dame on Saturday night. The win was the first for the Cardinals in 11 tries all-time at Notre Dame and extended their unbeaten streak to six matches.

Louisville takes a six-match unbeaten streak into Tuesday’s contest against Evansville, the program’s longest such streak since September of 2018. A win or tie on Tuesday would be the first seven-match unbeaten streak since Louisville reeled off nine straight matches without a loss from Sept. 15-Oct. 17, 2017.

SERIES HISTORY

Louisville trails the all-time series against Evansville 4-10-0, but the two programs have only met twice in the last 20 years with the Cards winning both matches. Evansville scored the opening goal in the 63rd minute in last season’s matchup, but the Cards got goals from Sander Roed and Aboubacar Camara in the final four minutes to grab a 2-1 victory.

TROUTMAN STANDING TALL IN GOAL

Ryan Troutman transferred to Louisville for the 2022 season and was in a battle for the starting goalkeeper spot during the preseason. However, Gavin Krenecki started and played every minute of the first six matches.

Troutman got his first opportunity on the road at Florida Gulf Coast and made the most of the chance, shutting out FGCU. The redshirt-senior has followed it up with four more starts, including consecutive shutouts at NC State and Notre Dame.

Troutman has allowed just two goals in five matches and is the first Louisville keeper with consecutive shutouts against ACC opponents since Jake Gelnovatch had three straight against Duke, Boston College and Pitt in September of 2018.

GEORGALLIDES DELIVERING IN BIGGEST MOMENTS

Konstantinos Georgallides is one of five freshmen that have played large roles this season for the Cardinals. Through 11 matches, Georgallides leads the Cards with four goals and 10 points and is tied for the team lead with 20 shots.

The freshman forward has come up huge in some of the biggest moments this season, scoring game-winning goals against No. 8 Pitt and Notre Dame, while adding the game-tying tally against Seattle. Georgallides also assisted on the game-winning goal in the win over Seattle.

ROED CONTINUALLY DISHING OUT HELPERS

Sander Roed is one of five Cardinals that have started all 11 matches this season, including fellow midfielders Eric Danquah and Bradley Sample.

Roed doesn’t have a goal on the season, but he’s been one of the most important players in Louisville’s offensive attack. The sophomore is currently tied for the ACC lead with six assists on the year, including assists on three game-winners.

Roed assisted on the game-winner in 1-0 victories at Florida Gulf Coast and NC State and then again in the win at Notre Dame.

CARDS CONSISTENTLY IN CLOSE CONTESTS

Louisville opened the 2022 season with 3-1 and 3-0 victories over Saint Louis and Bellarmine, respectively.

However, eight of the last nine matches have been decided by one goal or less. The Cardinals are 5-2-2 during that stretch, including a six-match (4-0-2) unbeaten streak heading into Tuesday’s match against Evansville.

LOUISVILLE FRESHMEN MAKING INSTANT IMPACT IN 2022

John Michael Hayden and the Louisville coaching staff added another top 25 recruiting class this summer. The group included eight freshmen, several of which have already seen extensive playing time.

The quartet of Damien Barker John, Quinton Elliot, Filip Fredhall and Konstantinos Georgallides have combined to make 31 starts through 11 matches, while David Boccuzzo has taken on a larger role in the Louisville midfield.

Georgallides is the team leader with 10 points, while Barker John has four. Georgallides assisted on the game-winner against Seattle and then scored the winners against No. 8 Pitt and at Notre Dame. Elliot owns a pair of game-winning assists, while Boccuzzo’s first collegiate goal was the game-winner at NC State.
