Four From Thomas More VB Named All Mid-South Conference

The Mid-South Conference announced their 2022 women’s volleyball All-Conference selections this afternoon, and the Saints had four players named. This ties the most selections they have had since joining the MSC in 2019. Selected to the First Team were sophomores Asia Ferrando and Sam McClanahan, while senior Sawyer Lorentz was selected to the Second Team, and senior Ally Albrinck was an Honorable Mention selection.

Ferrando earns First Team honors for the first time in her career. She has 552 digs, which ties her 2021 total and is second in the MSC. Her 5.47 digs per set leads the conference. She became the 10th Saint in program history to eclipse the 1,000-dig mark this season on the road at Shawnee State on October 20th. She has recorded double-digit digs in all but two matches this season, with 21 or more in 13 matches, and 30 or more in three matches. Ferrando also leads the team with 38 aces.

McClanahan earns her first All-Conference honor this season. The Georgetown, Kentucky native has 1,002 assists this season, which is good for 10th in program history for a single season and is second in the MSC. She has 9.63 assists per set, which leads the conference. Her 1,505 career assists place her eighth in program history. She recorded her 1,000th career assist on September 15th against Shawnee State. She has 25 or more assists in all but one match this season, with 41 or more in eight matches and 50 or more in three matches.

Lorentz is honored on the Second Team for the second straight season. The senior has been great both offensively and defensively this season. She has 224 kills, which is third on the team, and has 95 total blocks (32 solo, 63 assists), which is second in the MSC. Her 0.98 blocks per set is third in the conference. She became the eighth Saint in program history to record 250 total blocks on September 30th at Freed-Hardeman. She is sixth in career block solos (80) and seventh in career block assists (207). Lorentz has three matches this season with 15 or more kills and seven or more blocks.

Albrinck was named an Honorable Mention for the second time in her career (2020-21). She is second on the team with 241 kills and is third with 40 total blocks (three solo, 37 assists). She has 10 matches with 10 or more kills. This includes hitting .353 for 14 kills in her final regular-season home match against University of the Cumberlands on October 28th.

The team currently sits at 17-11 overall and are the No. 3 seed in the MSC Tournament, as they will play either Pikeville or Bethel (Tenn.) in the quarterfinals tomorrow evening at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time in Bowling Green.
