Answering the call in a pair of road games and rising to the challenge in his first career start, Northern Kentucky’s David Böhm has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week.

Böhm’s week opened with eight points on 3-for-7 shooting at Dayton, but his performance at Kent State to close out the week was a gem. He poured in a career-best 19 points behind 7-for-15 shooting, including 3-of-7 from deep.  For the week, the 6-foot-9 forward averaged 13.5 points on 46 percent shooting.

NKU has swept the Freshman of the Week award for the first three weeks of the 2020 season after fellow newcomer Marques Warrick claimed the first two.

Northern Kentucky opens Horizon League play this weekend when it hosts Youngstown State at BB&T Arena in a two-game homestand. Game one is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, while Sunday’s 3 p.m. contest will air nationally on ESPNU.
