Coach Stoops and staff made history last Tuesday by signing all his targeted recruits making them official Wildcats for class of 2014.
In total 28 faxes came in and after each one Stoops and his staff high five done another. With an assortment of 3,4, and 5 star commits Kentucky has the number 18 class in the nation yet predicted 9th in the SEC.
Two of the biggest commits happened to be in the last 3 to sign this morning. Matt Elam, a 5 star tackle chose UK over Alabama and a highly talented recruit from Ohio chose the Cats over Penn State. To put things in perspective Stoops and his troops signed more 4 star recruits in the class of 2014 then the previous 10-15 years combined.
If that doesn’t give reason for hope and change in the football program what will? I applaud Mitch Barnhart for the hiring of Mark Stoops and what he brings to the table. In an interview today Stoops was very humble about what the Cats have done and have yet to do. ” We went 2-10 last season, nothing happens overnight but we are heading in the right direction. Our recruits understand that it’s going to take hard work and willingness to be part of something bigger than themselves.” stated Stoops on KSR this morning.
Stoops and early recruits started a buzz around the program by tweeting the hashtag #yahtzee every time someone verbally committed to the program. That was then and today is history for UK and its football program. It gives the players, coaches, administration, and fans something to hang their hats on and to be proud of.
