The University of Louisville Cardinals swimming team has 34 members who will compete in the U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming in Omaha, Nebraska on June 26 through July 3 to earn a spot on the U.S. Olympic Swim Team. This is the highest amount that the Cardinals has ever qualified for the Olympic Trials. The Cardinals had no qualifiers in 2004, five in 2008, 23 in 2012 and now 34 in 2016.

The 34 will be among the top 1% of swimmers in the United States, including Olympians Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte. This meet is the sole qualifier to determine who will make the team that will compete in Rio de Janeiro. .
