Second half chemistry gets Saints to 1-0 in Presidents Athletic Conference (PAC) play. Tonight (November 30) Thomas More College took on PAC opponent Grove City College inside the Connor Convocation Center and came out victorious with a 77-62 victory.

The Saints who had a tough first half only shooting 38% off of eight assist turned it around in the second half shooting 56% from the field on 13 assist. The offense was led by junior running mates, center Simon Clifford (Louisville, Ky./ DuPont Manuel) who finished the game with 21 points and guard Daniel Williams (Jeffersontown, Ky./ Jeffersontown) who finished with 17. Alongside Clifford and Williams, the Saints had 7 total player record a bucket. Junior forward Austin Young (Campbellsville, Ky./ Henry County) finished the game with 6 points while sophomore guards Damion King (Winchester, Ky./ George Rodgers Clark), Ryne Callahan (Morehead, Ky./ Rowan County) and Brandon Horne (Louisville, Ky./ Male) finished with 12, 8, and 5 points. Sophomore forward Junior Stockwell (Florence, Ky./ Boone County) finished with 8 points.

After the game we caught up with Williams and head coach Drew Cooper. Williams told us, “This was a great team win, we showed resilience in the second half after they hit us first. We’re glad we would tough it out and get the win at the end of the day”. Coach Cooper was very pleased with his team’s second half performance saying, “We watched a team tonight in the second half that really has a chance if they stick together”. He also added, “Grove City has a lot of good young talent on their roster that is going to have good potential in the PAC”.

The Wolverines of Grove City had 10 players reach the scoring column and were led by Gabe Goode who finished the game with 15 points. Other notable scores were Zane Laws who finished with 9, Nate Peters finished with 8 and Brandon Grider also finished with 8 points.

The Saints will continue PAC play on Saturday, December 3 in Greenville, Pennsylvania as they take on Thiel College. Tip-off will be at 3 p.m.
