The Murray State Racers dropped a 78-46 defeat on the road to the Evansville
Purple Aces Saturday afternoon at the Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
The Racers fell to 4-5 on the season as they come home Monday for a 7 p.m. top against the Bethel Wildcats.
The day proved to be a poor offensive day for the Racers as they shot 28 percent for the game on 15-of-54 from the field and 5-of-26 from the 3-point line for 20 percent.
Trailing 19-15 with 11:09 left in the first half, the Racers suffered a cold stretch and The Aces went on a 25-6 run to lead 46-21 at halftime.
Bryce Jones and Jonathan Stark led the Racers each with nine points. Jones grabbed eight rebounds and dished out four assists.
Coming into this game, MSU had won three-straight games in the rebound stat, but trailed UE 40-37.
MSU hit a season-low five 3-point baskets.
MSU’s Jonathan Stark’s nine points broke a string of three-straight games with 20 or more points.
The Racers now prepare for a three-game week that starts Monday when Bethel comes to the CFSB Center for a 7 p.m. tip. MSU then travels to Oxford for a game with Ole Miss Thursday and then heading west to play the South Dakota State Jackrabbits Saturday (Dec. 17) in Brooks, S.D.
