The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) recently announced its NCAA Division III Scholar All-Region teams, with Centre senior goalkeeper Olivia Alford (Louisville, Ky.) garnering NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Third Team honors.

To be eligible for selection to the Scholar All-Region teams, student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 grade point average, start more than 50 percent of all games and be a significant contributor to the team.

A four-year starter for the Colonels, Alford has compiled a 3.86 cumulative grade point average as a computer science major.

She helped Centre capture its fifth consecutive Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament title along with its sixth straight appearance in the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Tournament in 2016.

Alford was a two-time NSCAA All-Region performer, picking up second team honors this season after earning third team accolades as a junior in 2015.

She tallied a career-high 85 saves with 10 shutouts as a senior in 2016 with a goals against average of 0.49. Alford ranked ninth in the country with 2004:10 goalie minutes played and 19th in Division III with a 0.885 save percentage. The Louisville, Ky. native added a pair of assists on the season, finishing her career with three helpers.
